A psychologist accused of abusing children in rural Idaho has been arrested.
Psychiatrist John C. Kocher was arrested in Boise on Monday and charged with child sexual abuse, the Idaho Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation said in a statement.
Kocher is currently in custody.
He has been with the Department of Mental Health since 2016, according to a news release.
In 2018, Koche pleaded guilty to child abuse and was sentenced to 10 years probation.
Deputies said he also has a criminal history.
Authorities say he allegedly molested a girl between the ages of 12 and 16.
They say he was arrested when he was in his late 30s and faces a maximum sentence of life in prison if convicted.
His criminal history includes sexual assault, child abuse, stalking and two drug-related convictions, according the news release from the Idaho Attorney General’s Office.
A spokesman for the Idaho attorney general’s office did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
