The US military has a huge need for psychologists to help train troops and help them manage their emotional health, as well as to help them find jobs.
The Department of Defense, which oversees military psychiatry, has a hiring policy that requires psychologists to have at least a bachelor’s degree in psychology and five years of experience in the field.
However, some psychologists have been reluctant to join the ranks of the US military.
Many military psychiatrists and psychologists have said they were hesitant to take the job because they felt they had too much power in the workplace.
But in the past few years, some have been making headway and are now working in the military.
“The people who they train are more willing to give up their job.””

But she said that the problem is that military psychologists have limited skills in the areas they are trained in.
“We have to educate them on what they need to do and why, and it’s really tough to make them do it,” she said.
“Psychologists are going to have to become more self-directed in their careers, to be able to see their own career paths, and I think that will be very difficult.”
Psychologist Linda Shattuck of the American Psychological Association told Al Jazeera that the military was “really going to need to change its training model” to allow more psychologists to enter the ranks.
“I think the reason they’re doing it is because the mental healthcare needs of the military have grown exponentially,” she added.
She said the military had to be aware that military personnel are vulnerable to the effects of PTSD and other traumatic experiences, and that it was not going to solve all the mental disorders in the armed forces.
Shattuck also said that military mental health professionals were being over-represented in positions that are considered “high risk” for mental health disorders.
“There is a very strong correlation between the mental wellbeing of the individuals that you are trying to recruit, and the likelihood of being diagnosed with mental illness,” she explained.
“So you are putting more people at risk.”
The military does have a hiring freeze in place, but it is not as severe as many other US government departments.
The military has not set a timeline for when it will be reopening its mental health hiring process, but some members of Congress have asked the Pentagon to do so.
However they are currently looking for psychologists who are ready to begin their new jobs.
