A conservative psychologist and activist has launched an online petition urging President Donald Trump to resign.
“It’s been a month of anger and frustration,” Dr. James Dobson told BuzzFeed News in an exclusive interview.
“I don’t have a cure for it.
We’re still waiting for it to be cured.
But I’m tired of watching the Republicans and Democrats in the White House and the Congress try to solve this crisis with the same, old-school, ineffective, old and tired strategy.
It’s working for them now.
We need to be on the offensive and be angry and be persistent.”
Dobson is the founder of Focus on the Family, a conservative Christian organization that promotes “the Christian worldview and values that have allowed the United States to remain strong for over 1,200 years,” according to its website.
The petition calls for Trump to quit immediately and appoint a special prosecutor to investigate and prosecute the president.
Dobson says the president’s failure to act in the wake of the horrific shooting of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, who was shot while visiting the Capitol, has resulted in the nation being “freed from its tyranny.”
“This administration is failing us and has failed the American people,” Dobson said.
“We’re not getting a fair shake.
The American people have been betrayed.””
It doesn’t matter what party you belong to, how conservative or liberal, the president is doing a terrible job,” Dobsey added.
“If he wants to resign, he should resign.
And the people of the United State deserve a special investigation into what’s going on here.”
Dorbson is a longtime conservative activist and the author of numerous books and articles that have been published in evangelical publications and on the internet.
He is a board member of Focus On The Family, the largest Christian group in the United Kingdom.
Focus On the Family also hosts a daily radio program and provides a Christian education curriculum.
Dobbs’ petition is just the latest in a long line of attacks against Trump.
In February, Dobson issued a call for people to boycott Trump’s inauguration.
The president responded with an op-ed defending his attendance.
In April, Dobbs issued a scathing critique of President Trump, saying he has “lost touch with reality” and that the president had “made a mockery of the Republican Party.”
“I am tired of hearing him talk about how great it is to be President,” Dobbs wrote.
“But we all know that is not true.
We all know he is doing this job for the money.”
The president’s refusal to resign is “the most shameful act of cowardice that I have ever witnessed,” Dobus said.
“The people of this country need to know that he is in denial and cannot be trusted,” he added.
